Location City -  Cairo
State -
Country - Egypt   Egypt
About This silhouette is of Mohamed Ali Mosque which one of the very interesting mosques in Egypt which stands proudly in the highest point inside the courtyard of Saladin Citadel. It is the most familiar landmark on Cairo's skyline.

It is also called the Alabaster Mosque because of the shining marble which covers its inner and outer walls. It was built for Mohammad Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt, and founder of the country's last dynasty of Khedives and Kings.

We can see the silhouettes of the two slender 270 foot minarets of Mohamed Ali Mosque which are very unique and are unusual for Cairo.

This image was captured from the "Sultan al-Nasir" Mosque, which is associated with Mohamed Ali Mosque in the Citadel.

Photo "A" is the original photo without any PS effects what so ever.
Photo "B" is the same photo but with some levels adjustments to lighten the mosque.

Hi Tahsin,
Thanx for your nice work.
Really it didn't pass my mind to remove these strings.
May be you're right, they should be removed.
Thanx once again my friend,
Khaled.

Excellent silhouette you have here Khalid, it is just amazing, and the details are wonderful in spite of the difficult lighting condition, very well done my friend, regards,

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 1/16/2005
Very nice use of the archway as a frame for the rest of this beautiful image! The gradual lightening of the sky adds a great emphasis to the dome and minarets that thrust so proudly skyward.
Having seen your levels-adjusted version in the comments, I tried a combination of both (I hope you don't mind!) keeping the silhouettes, but also bringing a little detail to the courtyard area. Just another possibility for a beautiful photo!

Fadel J   {K:13542} 1/16/2005
Great composition Khaled, a very beautiful image!

Khaled Mursi Hammoud   {K:52315} 1/16/2005
Hi Dirck.
It's a pleasure for me to edit my photo.
I like the effect you gave to the photo and made the mosque more apparent.
Thanx for your support dear Dirck,
Khaled.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 1/16/2005
Hi Kahled, Interesting discussion you triggered with this shot. There is something to say for each of different versions. Although cloning out the strings creates a more balanced setting (and that was well done!) it is not the actual settings, and only a minor thing; the main theme, I think, is the natural framing and the angle at the mosque; it creates a very well balanced composition. I do like Dirck's version too, as it shows a bit more contrast and details in the dark parts, but it does change the atmosphere a bit from your original, which I think is a tad stronger.

Which ever version I prefer is unimportant. The ground work is yours and already a very strong shot. Very well captured.

Cheers,

Hugo
