I think this is just adorable. I can see this on a poster. I like the other two images in this series, but I feel this one just stands out over them.

Great shot in a great series! They definitely belong on the north pole and not here:

Hi James, regardless of the undisputed quality of this shot, I'm curious if these polar bears are captured in their true habitat or in captivity... It's easy to presume the latter, but the environment sure makes it look like their genuine environmnent. And that's what adds the "juice" to this shot.

out of the three you posted today, I think this is the most balanced one, as both faces are visible. The first one is very strong too. As to the presentation, maybe a little less contrast with the frame would've created a more harmonious overview, but that's really besides the point.

Cheers,

Hugo.

PS, thanks for your constructive comments; very helpful, and very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks Hugo for all of your comments. These bears were in their natural habitat. They congregate around Churchill to wait for Hudson Bay to freeze so they can go out on the ice and hunt seals (or is it sea lions). The bay freezes around here first because the large Churchill River reduces the salinity of the bay.

Wonderful James, i prefer this one of the series .. the white on the bears is so nice, and still so different from the snow !

great image .. Isnt Churchill a cool place hehe..

I shot lots of landscapes while I was there ... did u shoot any .. ??

James Hager   {K:6285} 1/18/2005
Hi Don. Churchill is a cool place. Pretty darn cold too at the beginning of November. :) I only shot a handfull of landscapes, and didn't like the results. It was primarilly a polar bear trip for me, so that's what I was looking to shoot, and I'm happy with what I got for only three days of shooting. Can't wait to go back and spend more time there.

They look like a good match! Very nice capture, James!
Dave.
