excellent composition, imho. maybe the cropping on the bottom could be a bit thighter (cutting the first step), but that's personal. I like especially the structure of the wall (in the upper parts), which are presented in best light!

NIce diagonal!

Great shot!
Composition in very good, like toning.
Well done.

Serge Moscow_in_Milano   {K:1103} 1/22/2005
This is interesting task, thank you.
Here is my variant.
Imho, possible better point for shot was just near the wall, to stress it's texture. From most possible low point. Of course, including stairs.
Imho, yours vaiant a little bit oversharp.
Tones is perfect.
Regards,
Serge

...in favorites, if that tells you anything. Although I like what Fabio did, and understand his thinking, I also like what the light rocks do for the tonal range and balance.

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 1/23/2005
Wow, thanks for the favourite. I understand that the number of favs is limited on UF, so it is a great honor to be in your "hall of fame" :-) I was torn between different options, and the other crops have their own qualities but I think you have a valid point with the white rocks at the bottom.

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 1/23/2005
Serge, I appreciate your competent remarks. Unfortunately, I had my EF-S 10-22 mm not that moment, so I was not really wide with the 17-40 mm on the 300D. Your camera point would have been gorgeous super wide, maybe it could have worked even with 28 mm (film equivalent), not sure. Your crop is completely different, I am not sure if there is too much wall, I like the mass of foliage for balance. Thanks for stopping by !

the favorites are limited!? lol...first I've heard. I'll have to check that out. Antonia

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 1/23/2005
Somewhere I read such a statement in an UF discussion, but found nothing in FAQ about that

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30030} 1/24/2005
I didn't find anything either. I don't know why favorites would be limited, since it's simply a directory path and doesn't seem like it would impact Usefilm to have a lot of favorites.

Anderson Miranda   {K:1231} 1/24/2005
great compositon with stairs in diagonal. I liked the colour!

Guido Fulgenzi   {K:6076} 1/26/2005

In my humble opinion, I think your crop, composition and toning are "perfect". I like that I can see where the stairs meet the ground, I love the diagonal, and the tones...well, they're my favorite! Beautiful image...

Excellent composition, texture, detail and toning. I liked the suggestions for cropping also. Regards.

James Hager   {K:6285} 9/12/2005
I like the composition and the interesting perspective with a wide angle. The range of tones are good, but maybe a little hot at the bottom in the center.
