About This very old town (1000 years+?), only opened to tourism four years ago, is famous for it's waterways. Unfortunately the rain prevented me from getting decent shots of those, so I had to settle for pictures of the old wooden homes facing the water. Walking or rowing past, you can still see people doing whatever it is that they do in their homes.

There is so much to look at in these photos, one could spend a long time looking at the incredible detail, I love the subtle colors and the facinating objects around the house. What are you doing in China Jim.??? and where are you from originally. Am I being to nosey? Alison

alison.... at first sight, this place might seem a bit of a junkyard. but there's really a use for everything you see here, altho i can't tell you what. these homes are quite old, and if you walk around behind, you can walk past the doors and see inside. most of them are not heated, at least in the western way. you'll see people sitting around watching tv, talking, cooking, reading.... but with their coats on.
