Thanks for all the comments Dirck. I don't think I cropped any of these. Just a point and shoot thing. I've found the only way to get a decent focus on these is to focus on something the same distance away, like the lower section of rail, then recompose. This fuji has a terrible time focusing on a small object, or moving one. I could crop this one, but I don't think I'll bother. I have a folder on my desk top right now with LOTS of bird pics. It gets old after a few days. Today I have a squirrel. The only thing that has excited me, is that yesterday I had a pair of woodpeckers come up for a few seconds. I love woodpeckers, and would love to get a shot at those!

He looks like he has eaten his fill. That always makes me sleepy too. For a camera that has difficulty focusing these are mavelously sharp.

There's nothing special, Gabby. I sit here at my computer, open my blinds, grab a cup of coffe in the morning and put some seed out on the way. I set my camera up on aperture preferred, the speed on 200, and underexpose some, usually. I have my camera set up where I have to depress the shuuer halfway to auto lock. WHen a bird lands, I usually focus on and object right below it, at the same distance and lock it, then recompose and shoot. ( when it gives me time). My camera has a difficult time focusing on a small or movong object, so I've found if I prefocus, it's much faster, and I get better results. Then I simply hit enhancement, in PSE, if the colors are drab, to make them a little brighter.

Hi Rebecca, Do you use a polarizer filter when you are shooting these pictures? I am amazed at the quality you can achieve through window glass. This one's very lovable. I think you also had a perfect cardinal recently if I'm not confusing you with someone else.

Thank you Lily. No, I don't use a filter on these. I'm usually sitting about 2 feet or so from the window, with the blinds up halfway, and there's a house very close next door, so there's not a lot of light coming through to cause reflections. It's just a good set up I suppose. By underexposing a few stops I can usually get richer colors and prevent the blown out look we get sometimes from too much sun. The sun is hitting my deck from the left, and by the time it goes down it is obscured by trees.
