About Still playing with the camera, do you know which animal or bird that this eye belongs to?

Here are some hints to know:
1. It has the largest eyes of any terrestrial animal or any bird (only those of whales; which appear tiny in the gigantic marine mammal; are larger).
2. Its eye is bigger than its brain and has thick black eyelashes.
3. It is said that its eyes are the only animal or bird eyes which can be replaced with the human eyes in eye transplants.

If you still don't get it, then read my comment.

Camera settings: 1/180 sec - f/13.

This is the eye of an Ostrich.

Important to know that every part of the ostriches can be used for different purposes:
1. Ostrich leather products with high quality and great durability are considered to be the most wanted and precious leather goods in the world.
2. Ostrich feathers with numerous usages such as dusters and decorations.
3. Ostrich meat has the best tasting red meat with the lowest cholesterol and almost fat free.
4. Ostrich eggs are not only used as food and in cake factories but can be used for any attractive handicrafts also.
5. Ostrich fats are considered to be one of the best raw materials in cosmetic industry.

And these are some funny facts about the human eyes:
1. The eye muscles are the most active muscles in the whole body.
2. It is impossible to sneeze without closing your eyes.
3. Snow glare is the biggest cause of winter car accidents.
4. By the time you turn 60, you will be exposed to as much UV light as a nuclear blast.
5. 80% of what you learn is through your eyes.

My regards to you all,
Khaled.

Excellent Khaled, I knew it is an Ostrich :) excellent cropping as well, it gave the picture another dimension, the DOF is wonderful as well, very well done ... Another information about Ostriches, They never hide their heads in sand, they just lay it down on the ground, so any one looking from far, would think they are hiding their head in the sand. Kind Regards,

NN     {K:26787} 1/29/2005

Nice shot! I knew it was an ostritch, but didn't know all those facts. .. But I think that in Egypt, snow blindness is not a big killer!
Great technical mastery in this shot!

Omar

Kasia Koltunska   {K:5486} 2/21/2005
Amazing caputre Khaled. I love your crop. The detail on the photo is just stunning. I have a similar shot of an ostrich taken quite some time ago - never though of cropping it this way... but, as your picture illustrates, it is their eyes that are their focal point.

Love it!!!!
Kasia
