What a good B&W Study! The reflection and the waves are so good! Congrats

Samuel Robinson   {K:1851} 2/8/2005
Nice photoart and great tones. Well done.

Alper Tecer   {K:7002} 2/8/2005
I first thought from the thumbnail that this came out from PS work. When opened, I changed my mind. Impressive and creative look. Like a fantasy gate. Regards and congratulations.

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 2/8/2005
COOOOOL graphic result - i really like that - and i also appreciate your tilting....it made it difficult to see what it as and i had to look for a long and then i realised that i have to turn my head. Really excellent abstract!

Jeanette

Rona K **   {K:2375} 2/8/2005
Very interesting. I like it!

Abel Minnée   {K:3769} 2/8/2005

Thanks!!1

Best wishes abel!!

Dan Lightner   {K:12684} 2/8/2005
Toni , I like your abstract , the B&W make it much better than it would be in color.

Dan

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 2/8/2005
very nice shot Toni! I love the angle you chose for this - I would have flipped it by nature. I really like that you didn't. Wonderful.

moataz k. elkateb   {K:4971} 2/8/2005
anther artistic shot toni ...great composition ..
ILIKKE IT very much well done.

regards
moataz

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 2/8/2005
Amazing how much a 90 degree rotation has changed the associations and feeling that this image evokes! While it's quite nice in it's original orientation (very nice actually!), it remains somewhat 'literal'. This rotated version, on the other hand, sparks the imagination to see many other things - I see a shadowed wall or barrier of some sort, it's integrity briefly compromised by the ripples as a small portal opens to the 'other side' (I could get all sci-fi with this! :)
OK - I've used up all my big words for the day.
Cool shot, Antonia!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Thanks Cheryl...interesting that you would remark about that as I also would flip it by nature...I put it this way to add to the tension. I wonder why we automatically feel it ought to go the other way?

Paul's Photos   {K:35218} 2/8/2005
nice work... love the abstract look to the composition... good lighting and tones.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
:) that was a fun comment to read, Dirck. I'm glad you had some fun inside my image. It was a fluke that I put it up as I was trying to make a background for something else and when this happened I got lost in it myself...and thought..what the heck...put it up as an abstract. So it really tickles me that you enjoyed it too. Perhaps I'll do a series with it and take it to the other realm... Thanks.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Thanks Dan...this is my first abstract and it popped out at me when I converted it to BW, so what you say rings very true!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Hey Paul...thanks. Your fabulous statue in the fountain is burned into my mind's eye and every time you comment I can see it! :) Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Hey Abel...thanks...I'm trying to get out of the box...like you!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Rona...thanks...it's just a diversion.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Thanks, Jeanette. It is interesting that you and others notice that it is sideways. When I tilted it, I thought that it could have been captured from that perspective as well. What if I were standing at that angle when I took the shot...is it not possible? It happens that I did take the shot from the other direction, and I also naturally want to look at it the other way. But there isn't any reason we couldn't have stood and seen it this way... an interesting phenomenon!

Michele Berti   {K:14921} 2/8/2005
This make a very nice abstract Toni!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Thanks Alper... you are the second to see the gate, and I'm trying to find it! Antonia

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 2/8/2005
Yes absolutly Antonia! Yes there?s a possibility to capture similar image in same way...

A different way of viewing "reality"....

Jeanette

Chad Parish   {K:6373} 2/8/2005
Wow, not much more I can say Toni. Your work is as usual thought provoking and well executed.

Rebecca Raybon   {K:26645} 2/8/2005
Superb abstract! Very lovely.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
....I'm thinking maybe the L.A. County Art Museum might be interested....hahahahahaha...

(totally kidding)

Thank you my dear friend,

Hugs. Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Thanks Chad... this one is meant to keep you lost in thought!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
I just figured out why we all know it is sideways!!!!! It's the shape of the elipse...it is really round when looking at it from above, and with perspective, the foreshortening occurs such that the elipse is wider than it is long from our natural viewpoint...why didn't I think of that before!?

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 2/8/2005
Hello again! :) I think the perspective gives it away - had you shot it from what is now the bottom of the picture, the rings in the puddle would be slightly wider there instead of at the right.
Sorry - I'm not usually so tedious! Don't know what's gotten into me today :)

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
Dirck...thanks for the explanation and redline illustration! It just dawned on me and I posted a reply to Jeannette about my epiphany regarding the perspective on the elipse before yours went up... perhaps the brain waves from you traversed the planet and I picked them up, as it occurred to me just as you were putting this together for me!!! Hmmmmmm.... one for the "x" files...lol. You are so right!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/8/2005
by the way...I really like it with the red square!

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 2/8/2005
Hah! :) Great minds think alike, eh? If you see those brain waves coming, you'd better duck! Could be hazardous to your health!! :)

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 2/8/2005
Antonia - you are right! I had to check and found that you are right about that!

Anyhow - i really LIKE your image and it?s very creative, thoughtful, abstract and Cool!

Jeanette

karen clarke   {K:18915} 2/8/2005
Cool abstract, I esp love the pattern of the leaves in the upper left corner. Great idea~

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 2/8/2005
very interesting. Looks like you got so tired that night that you hear fell sideways and you rotated the image to correct for that. ...just kidding! :)

I like it very much. I think it would work also very good if it was upside own.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/9/2005
Thanks for the laugh David. You are closer than you realize to the truth! Upside down would work too. I tried it flipped horizontally the other way and that felt really too wierd.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/9/2005
Thanks gio!! How are you? Must visit you...:) Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/9/2005
Hey Karen...that was my favorite part too...the leaves...thanks. GM's think alike..lol. It's fun to try something different for a change (and to share with friends). Hugs.

Roberto Carli   {K:13689} 2/9/2005

Marcio Janousek   {K:32265} 2/10/2005
((( very strong work )))

I Like the contrasting ,tones higly expressive.

Fadel J   {K:13747} 2/10/2005
Very strong work Toni, and the BW tones made it very powerful! Looks like a time gate in a movie :)

Trish McCoy   {K:15897} 2/10/2005
wow!! this is interesting. this is really neat. the waves really catch the eye.

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 2/11/2005
Toni this is just incredible - fabulous conversion and toning using curves.

I like the way it is presented also - thought at first it was the trunk of a tree, I nearly started counting the rings to see how old it was lol

Best wishes,
Steve

Thanks Steve, this one has surprised me as far as the response, because it was such a fluke -- one of those happy accidents... I'm flattered. Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/11/2005
...I hope you didn't have to type that 3 times! I you did, it came through all 3 and you deserve a big hug....lol

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 2/11/2005
Sorry Antonia - the web is playing up again !!

Traces of sabotage with the server, I think someone has been feeding sleeping medicine to the donkey driving it once again ;-)

Best wishes,
Steve
