You're right when you say you've got the hang of aperture and depth of field! The difference between the leaf and the background is really eye-catching. I might suggest narrowing the aperture slightly to get the whole leaf in focus. The exposure and colours are great.

The contrast of the leaves against the background is excellent in terms of colours and DOF. Very nice image.
