About A well-known hotel in Bangkok. I only stayed here one night, and took these photos at 5:45 am as i waited to check in at 6:00 am. The appeal of this place, lies in the fact that it hasn't changed much over the years. In fact, most of the furniture is typical 1950s and 60s style. This place has quite a history, some of which can be found here:

Shutter speed was actually 1/1.3
It seems a bit overexposed above the plant in the centre, but the chandelier was quite bright.

Nice composition and subject! I assume that you were working with very little light -> your light sources seem a bit bright, and the white balance may be a bit off. See if you can't adjust the levels and bring out a little more whiteness. Excellent pic.

Andrew, I set the white balance for incandescent light, and also tried some shots with WB set in Auto mode, and this one seemed better. The light was low, and to get a better view of the lobby, I had to actually move outside the door slightly and prop it open, but then a bunch of stray cats kept running into the hotel and getting in my way, so I had to rush this shot somewhat (plus I had been up all night travelling from Shanghai). So I had a few problems....

Perhaps i should try a custom white balance setting but have not figured out how to do that yet.

Defenitely that era with the big bold tile and color scheme, although almost looks like something out of casa Blanca or something. Nicely taken. Alison
