About Subject background: 17 Hippies in concert (actually, this time just 13 of them). Great band that tour around in Europe. Kind of world music, very different instruments.

PS concept: level tweaking. The D70 seems to have massive white balance problems with magenta lights. the detail tends to get completely lost. not easy to make the correct white balance in concert situation.

Special equipment: no tripod/flash ;-) (according to CBs no-tripod/no-flash-philosophy)

German title: Siebzehn Hippies ;-)

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Actual data: 1/8s, f/1.8

Thilo,
Ther is a real psychedelic feeling here with the wavy lamp and lights. Also the composition is very nice with the spectator faces in the bottom right. I am a big proponent of no flash no tripod and I know how tough it can be to get a decent shot, but this one is good.
Regds,
Omar

Very nice colors
and I especially like this ancient lamp
So there is a diagonal line from there to the audience
( About white balance: Its better to use films :) )
Very well done

Hi Jan,

you're right with the film aspect regarding white balance ;-)

Hi bro! Well, You know, that I know how hard it is to get a good concert shot. I can give yo at least ten reasons why, but let's talk about your shot.
When I see this light intermezzo I can imagine how great white balance worked that night.
I see you put the lightshow on the spot, leaving the band and the audience in the "background". If this was your plan, you succeeded. I will not mention the mic stands, our enemy #1.
Pretty good!

Nice mood captured! The colours and smoke looks so great, and the composition is excellent too! Well done!

Hi bro,

I see that I have to experience a lot more ;-)

I'm not sure if I pursue the stage project. Currently, I see it as a journalistic part - shooting the concert as a remembrance. That's not a very suitable approach for getting better, I know ;-)

Problem is that digital probably sucks with stage... not really a problem, but I'm reluctant to spend lots of money for analog at the moment.

anyway, thanks a lot for the constructive comment. and yes, I took the lights for metering.

Nice capture of the atmospher dear Thilo! The colors are well and the light is burning the singers. Looks a special years'60-70 moody!
Good work.

Hi Ursula,

nein, das war im Hirsch ;-)

die lampe ist wirklich klasse, vielleicht bringe ich noch ein zweites bild, wo sie eine größere rolle spielt.

Great atmosphere Thilo ... I can only count 5 hippies, I guess the rest are in hiding ;-)

The group reminds me of the early ELO stage sets I used to watch !

Lovely colours and the lampshade looks intriguing.

Best wishes,
Steve
