About Well, I took the new camera out to my parents house for a little photo shoot with their dogs. This is Greta and she ended up loving being in front of the camera. I haven't had much experience with dog photography so please, tell me what you think. Thanks!

Greta is lovely! And, she appears to be sitting still for you. That's half the battle when shooting dogs. I like the black background and I think the pose is nice. 2 suggestions. 1. get a bit more light on the top of her head...the light seems to fall off a bit there, and 2. leave just a tiny bit more room below her front paw (so her fur is separated from the frame).
Still, a nice portrait!

Thanks for the suggestions. I recently purchased some lighting equipment and this was my first time using it. I'm used to doing nature photography and portraits are an entirely different type of photography--there are so many issues to consider! Hopefully practice will make perfect. Thanks again!

By the way, you have a very nice portfolio. :)
