About Escalators at a shopping mall near where I work.

PS work: curves, channel mixer for b&w, layers via copy and blending modes to lighten up upper left and lower right corners. Not a long time was spent on this. About 20 minutes.

Nice one angelo.I like the juxtaposition of the people. Did you plan it? did you wait long? was it luck?
I hope you will tell me it was planned.
Great Diagonals and super tones.

so many levels - so many layers - the story of our lives = great composition and eye to see - K

Ok Danny, I'll tell you my "secret" ;)

Lunch time, so I escaped the office and just loitered around the mall arousing the suspicion of the security guards. Took about 10 "keep" shots over about 7 minutes of this particular set of escalators.

I set up the composition I wanted in terms of the position of the escalators, lines etc; half-pressed the shutter button to get over the damn delay on the Ixus... And then just waited until some people moved into shot.

I was lucky to have the people in such a nice triangular arrangement.

Cheers!
Angelo.

Kev,

You "got it"!

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 2/22/2005
In other words, Danny: part planned, part luck. As in: I didn't ask the people to ride the escalator and be at those positions, but I didn't just lift the camera, press the button and "voilá!". This was shot 8 of 10.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50310} 2/22/2005
hi angelo,

love the lines that you captured. well done in bw. great symmetry here.

there is a loss in detail which is a mild pity. not sure where this comes from (resizing?).

anyway, good job.

best wishes,

thilo

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 2/22/2005
Thilo,

"Loss in detail"? Most likely source is taking the photo at 200 ASA (to avoid 400 noise) with -2/3 EV compensation, then compensating in Levels.

I've since learned to use my equipment better :) I am prefering to deal with the noise of 400 than having permanently dialled underexposure (pushing)

Excelente Angelo!!

Parece o shoping do brasil-sp

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 4/24/2005

Aline Massuca   {K:-350} 4/28/2005
