About Snowbird is a common name for the dark-eyed junco. They are migratory here in the East and will depart in late March or early April only to return next October. Cute with a soft vocalization reminiscence of a sonar ping. Photo was shot using a Speedlight 800 flash.

Excellent portrait Lee, I love these little Juncos-and you captured this one well--great detail on the bird, and I really love how it's offset by the blur of the background.

Regards-
Sarah

Lee: Great Shot! We love these little guys. The woods are full of them right now and they are in breeding plumage so are gorgeous right now. They stay here in the Colorado mountains all summer so we get to see them for many months. I envy your environment. I would burn up a few flash cards and shutters there.
