About Subject background: A path to the unknown - nothing more or less

PS concept: Sandwich technique. IR picture as a ground base, color one blended with "color". basically like this one http://www.usefilm.com/image/676388.html

but in a more "enhanced" version (layer work, different exposure on the IR side to get this aged, soft look etc.). Lots of stuff ;-)

Special equipment: Hoya R72, tripod (no way to make 20s exposure by hand)

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Beautiful endless road, very good work Thilo!

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 2/25/2005
excellent Thilo even considering just the strumental expertise; obviously your artistic sensibility is well coupled to it!
the trees are wonderful, if a ccurved path it would result in a strong image

Stephen Bowden   {K:64519} 2/25/2005
Fabulous work Thilo, I love the result you have achieved here. I need to do some serious reading regarding layers and PS lol

Best wishes,
Steve

Sandwich technique?? But that is surley masterly done because how much i look and stare i can only see one image in here. Amazing work Thilo!

hi jeanette,

using a tripod, it's not too difficult to sandwich pictures ;-)

but I'm glad you didn't see it.

best wishes,
thilo

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59985} 2/25/2005

awesome effect Thilo...very cool stuff.

...by the way, my '1977' title was born out of my laziness in naming my shot. the building looked to be to be built in the 70s, and was titled 1977.
cheers,
todd

Nice effect, Thilo.

I recently got an IR filter from Cokin. I'll be trying it soon. Will be nice to hear your opinions and tips.

As for the original composition: it's a nice classic one.

Only gripe for me is that (lamp?) post which grabs my attention straight away...

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 2/26/2005
hey angelo,

for sure, I will follow your IR steps. =)

If I can help you in any way, please let me know (although my IR eperience is very limited).

yes, the lantern is kind of an enemy here. didn't dare to extinguish this object. maybe I should have to...

thilo

Peter De Rycke   {K:39471} 2/26/2005
Hum, so you took this winter landscape into the IR dimension .. not bad at all .. so the snow colour comes from the real light layer, the tree tops from the IR layer .. that's something to try out for myself (i'm hardly a tripod man, will have to bring a change into this !)

Peter

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 2/27/2005
Hi Peter,

the IR picture is just blue and red ;-) (I flipped the channels here)

so the colors of the color picture make the final color look.

I hate tripods, but for this kind of technique, it's 100 % necessary (unfortunately).

thanks for the feedback,

thilo

hi, everything looks seamless to my eye,Thilo...like the look of the top of trees...the lamppost doesn't distract me as my eye finds the left side particularly appealing...that is some MAX DOF!...would be an excellent place for a looooooooong walk ;> ...regards,gayle

This is beautiful Thilo... Excellent composition... and the perspective is awesome... It wanted to go into it and walk in the path to the unknown... May it be to heaven???? Great work my friend... This is astonishing....
