A pretty cool image. This one looks like Berry is popping out at you. Your use of this filter is a good idea for this one. It fits well.
Sorry to here about Berrys' demise man.....

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/6/2005
Thanks, Jeff. It's funny about grieving. It never sunk in until 4 months after the fact. It felt great to see this photo in the roll.

Mary Sue Hayward   {K:17525} 3/6/2005
What a wonderful photo of your dog. Finding the image must have been a sweet discovery. It looks like Berry had a very happy life. What a devoted expression!

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/6/2005
He was the greatest, Mary Sue. I'm sure his pictures are in some other rolls of film, just waiting to be developed. Thank you.

gary spillane   {K:1617} 3/6/2005
love this shot, what a great smile on Berry's face, glad you found some memories

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/6/2005
Hi Gary; i'm glad you like this one. I have a habit of putting exposed film in the freezer and developing them later...sometimes years later.

ARMANDO ALCÁZAR   {K:42656} 3/6/2005
Great tribute to your best friend , super portrait, congrats and God bless you.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/6/2005
Hi Armando; time flies quickly and next thing you know there are just memores. Thanks & God Bless.

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86479} 3/8/2005
Sorry about your dog passing away, Mark, but she was of ripe age and the portrait you captured is an excellent dog-portrait.
Thank you for you in-depth commet on my "Memoris from Kurdistan 3."
Best regards,
Rafi

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/8/2005
Thanks for your understanding, Rafi. Not everyone agrees that "real" grieving is extended to pets as well.

Bea Friedli   {K:9816} 3/15/2005
great shot !! sorry about the loss though

Niall H   {K:479} 3/16/2005
Great pet portrait- the dreaminess is very apt for the situation. fine work.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/16/2005
Thanks, Niall. I imagined him in dog heaven and came up with this interpretation.

Thanks for your comment on my "Flatiron". You have a wonderful and moody portfolio which I will have to investigate further (my first session real session on UF today). For now I pick Berry: Marvelous shot, full of mood, presence and personality.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/21/2005
Thanks, Hansi. I hope to see more of your work here in Usefilm. It's a fine place to show, and the people are great.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats for this deserved award!!!!!!!

Andrea Harris   {K:2496} 3/21/2005
My initial feeling was that the photo needed more clarity, more detail, more focus. But, after reading the story with it, the filter and "look" of the photo fits - it's a memory. It looks as though it is a memory...still vivid in the mind, but slightly fading perhaps. The tone lends more towards warmth and a serene, enjoyable moment shared only between you and your dog. The more I scroll up to look at the photo, the more I enjoy your "memory" as well - nicely achieved.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 3/22/2005
Hi Subhash;

I think the comments are inspired by the work itself. It's easy to see your communication in the work you produce. Good work reciprocates. Cheers,

Mark

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 3/22/2005
Thanks for the encouragement over my subway photos, Mark. I guess you picked them up because toy cameras are one of your things. Love this one of your dog. Our Shetland sheepdog is still young and healthy, thank goodness. We'll all miss him when the inevitable parting comes. If you'd said "Holga" rather than PS'd Yashica I would have believed you.

C.A. (Christine) Mikulice   {K:13285} 4/7/2005
Nice photo, Mark. Berry looks like a wonderful dog, it's always hard to lose them, they go too soon. He has a great smile. Nice to have such a nice photo for rememberance.

Mark, what a sweet tender portrait of Berry. A terrifc smile on that dog!!! I'm sure you miss him very much, even now. Amy

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 4/17/2005
Thank you so much, Amy. It's been a year now, so it's time to adopt another one. Actually a fourth. Wish us luck!

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 7/23/2006
Great portrait of Berry and an honor to his passing. My last pet to "pass", Ninja, a 35 pound cat, still appears in the corner of my eye when I walk into a room in the house. We never forget our pets! My dog, Zoe, hates to be photgraphed, but you have just spurred me on to take some more phots of the old girl. Thanks for sharing this photo with us.
