About each of these fish boats pull in countless thousands of herring each day, many of which are filled with roe that get shipped off to asia. It is really no wonder that our seas are in the shape that they are & that fish stocks in some areas are almost non-existent. It's a tough reality, though, as so many people in our local communities rely almost entirely on the income they make from the fishing industry. A coastal dilemna facing communities on both canada's west & east coasts.

Great composition and tones. It's a dilemma being faced here too in the North Sea, causing endless battles over quotas in the European Parliament.. :)

(i did not know that most herrings were exported to asia.

hi hiroshi - thank you for your comments. It's the roe (eggs) that are exported mostly to asia, not the herring themselves.
