Nicely done Dave

Neil White   {K:9088} 3/8/2005
Hey - that's my job!

But learning to fly does give you an immense appreciation of how these pioneer pilots must have faced the elements with such limited facilities.

Interesting photo.

Neil

Hanggan Situmorang   {K:37824} 3/9/2005
Very nice composition, Dave..:) You've managed the contrast and tone so well, the statue remain stands up among the background. Good work, my friend. Congratulations!

ade mcfade   {K:12388} 3/9/2005
You still got snow over there!

INTERESTING SCULPTURE (OOPS, CAPS LOCK ON) though - I guess it's im pressionisitc rather than an accurate likeness. Thought the propellor was a sword till I read the info!

Ade

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86942} 3/9/2005
Excellent wsinter phot, Dave. The statue stans out well on the white snow background. What is it he is carrying?
Thank you for your kind remarks about my "Memories from Kurdistan 5 and 6."
Best regards,
Rafi

Dave Stacey   {K:123016} 3/9/2005
Hi Rafi, thanks for the comments! He is shown as swinging the prop, a technique used to loosen up the oil in the engine to make it easier to start. Older aircraft without electrical systems, or dead batteries, can be started this way as well. Very carefully of course!
Dave.

Dave Stacey   {K:123016} 3/9/2005
Hi Roberto! Thanks for the comments! I'm not sure what he flew, let's just compromise, and say it's an old Junkers! LOL.
Thanks for adding me to your friends list, I've returned the compliment!
Dave.

Den Thompson   {K:30432} 3/9/2005
Is he free standing or is he PROPPED up Dave. Capturing him in all that snow seems so appropriate for the pioneering spirit of that time. Well exposed shot too Dave.
Den
