Mary,

And a few nights before, Luna was the leader, as they play out this celestial dance.

Very clean and sharp! It's amazing how you maintain to keep the little lights exposed well in the dark. Good composition, thanks for visiting my photo..:)

Mary Brown   {K:68630} 3/21/2005
Thanks, Amy. That's Jupiter and is brighter than any of the surrounding stars. Jupiter loves to be photographed and often poses very prominently. Mary

coskun o   {K:1812} 4/1/2005
Your sky is so clear! Is it possible to see the constellation Orion where you live?

I live at latitude ~40 deg North... therefore many famous Southern constellations are in my view.

I have tried to capture (in one shot) Orion and full moon several times but I could not achieve a good result.

Once I tried to cover the Moon, however its light still affects the sky.

A very tricky shot to pull off Mary. You have done so brilliantly. I have tried to get the moon and stars before but I think you need to be away from city lights. Thanks for your comments on my flowers. Cheers, -mm

I'm running out of pictures to comment on, Mary!!
Is the second largest white blob Jupiter?
Fascinating!
Best regards, Chris

Mary Brown   {K:68630} 5/7/2005
Thanks Chris. I seem to manage about 2 pictures a week. Also, seeing I really just started taking picture in January, I don't have previous ones to pull up. Anyway, I really enjoy looking at your pictures. I certainly do appreciate your commenting on mine, but don't feel you need to.
Yes, the large blob is the Moon, of course. The second largest blob is our largest planet, Jupiter. Over the nights, they changed postions realative to each other. I love watching the celestial dances of the planets. It is amazing and a very peaceful hobby. Our universe is a vibrant and fascinating place.
Mary

This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm", Ms. Brown. I understood from your photos that you were Canadian and went through your portfolio twice. The latter was not too diificult, because there was only one page and yet difficult because the photos on it were all good ones. I finally settled on this one to comment on because behind its relative simplicity it hid great beauty and simplicity, I've been told more than once, is one of the secrets of beauty in art.
You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay further visits to my portfolio.
In the meantime, I thank you for your generous comment on my "In Monet's garden 1."
Best regards,
Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann

Mary Brown   {K:68630} 5/21/2005
Dr. Rafael Springmann, you just made my day with your very kind comment. Thank you so much for the smile.
I know how time consuming it is to look through people's pictures, so I appreciate your doing so.
I must post my bio soon. I am Canadian, a retired special education teacher and started taking pictures when I got my digital camera at Christmas time. So, I am very new to this, but am ecouraged by comments posted to my pictures.
We shall meet again in UF, Rafi. Take care. Mary

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86813} 5/22/2005
Dear Ms.Brown,
I read your reply to my comment with great interest. Our daughter is also a special education teacher. As such, you might be interested in my book and if you supply me with an e mail address, I would be more than pleased to send it to you at no cost to you. You may get a general impression of the book by looking at www.drspringmann.com at which the important things are 1. to pay attention to is Dr. Joyce Mc Dougall's preface. She is a central figure in the psychoanalytic community and 2. the story of Adam, the psychotherapy of the first schizophrenic patient described in the book, although the latter is not quite up to date. The book "weighs" 1.02 MB and despite its name, it was written with the non mental-health specialist also in in mind. I believe that as a teacher of special education, as I wrote above, you might be more familiar with the material in the book than the avarage non mental-health professional.
My e mail address is
rafael1930@bezeqint.net
Just write
"Usefilm and your book" in the subject line.
Best regards,
Rafi Springmann
