About Back from the canal holiday, had a blast and drank each wharf dry.... as predicted!

Not the best weather for decent photography as it was overcast and flat most of the trip, but this shot from Saturday shows the best light we got really.

It's at Napton on the Oxford canal at about 7PM - there was a power cut in the pub, so I got chance to get some shots with very little light near by.

More to come I'm sure.

As an amateur astronomer I pray for power cuts :) I wonder what ISO setting you had, Ade, as there is no detectable noise for the length of exposure? Also, did you do any post processing? I assume the picture was takin in RAW format. The composition is very nice, you seem to have the gift for these kind of shots. Now all that's required is a backing track, may I suggest "Afterglow" by Genesis from the album "Wind and Wuthering", on the Charisma Label, Cat CDS4005 C1976. Sorry I'm a Prog Rock Anorach. It is a supereb picture Ade.

HI Nidge,

We were not that pleased with the power cut - we needed the pub for tea and for a few ales! Had bacon butties instead.

This is the untouched thing - juswt getting the shotsoff the cards and this one jumped out at me.

I'd been doing all these at ISO 100 to minimise the grain - some at F22 for max DOF, but they were getting nowhere after 3 minutes open - so went to the wider settings (I was getting cold)!

Also, it's actually in JPG mode - I was worried about running out of cards after such an excellent frist days weather.... it didn't last

Cheers for the comment - we did have a bit of Genesis on the boat actually! Tim and and eddie are in their 40's so remember that stuff first time around. Deep purple was another group I was introduced to... interesting.
