About I just received my Nikon LS9000 film scanner and thought I'd set it a tough task. This image has very high contrast and a significant dynamic range. The scanner's come through with flying colours (if you'll excuse the pun). The image was captured in autumn last year in the English Lake District. I used 2 stops of hard ND grads and 3 stops of soft ND grads to balance the brightness of sky, land and water.

Wow, a great concept. The best of two worlds... The result is outstanding. Would love to see a 800 large upload, to have an idea of sharpness and detail of this shot. The tonal quality, esp. in the shadows, is unbeatable. Hats off !

Wonderful photograph Barry. I like the perfect reflection that you've captured as well. Looks like the LS9000 is one hell of a scanner ;)

You truly are a master at reflections... this is another stunner! I love the amount of detail in hills.
Where would you put the middle of your graduated ND? I would always put it on the straightest line... in the case of your image I would have put it along the water line... but thinking that if I did that I would have probably lost a lot of detail in the hills, where you seem to have still retained it.
Thanks for sharing... it's a beautiful image.
