| About |
I think this is a 'love it or hate it' photo. I visited the Havelet bathing pools at sunrise but struggled to find a pleasing composition. I then noticed the reflections of the rising sun in the rippling water. Zooming in close and employing a fairly long exposure, I kept some form and colour but slightly blurred the movement of water producing an entirely graphic and slightly abstract image. It reminds me of some of the air-brushed backgrounds I once saw in a book at school of paintings by Chris Foss, a science-fiction artist. I'm very happy with the result, even though it doesn't appeal to everyone. I like the fact that, being fluid, this image can never again be recreated exactly.
