Excellent perspective here, Ade! I like the colours and textures of the walls of the staircase, too, looks like it's been there a long time! Your dramatic sky just lends the right atmosphere to the whole scene. Very well done! Dave.

Cheers Dave,
it was the dramatic sky that got me out yesterday - big plumes of clouds all over - showers, rain, but the occasional bit of sun.
When you take a closer look at these moors, there are masses of ditches and channels all geared up to gather water for these reservoirs... and in turn the reservoirs powered Manchester, which was pretty much where the Industrial Revolution was based. So yeah - these are a part of history, prbably built in the late 18th or 19th century.
Here's a channel that takes overflow from the reservoir to the right and delivers it to the reservoir below... there are 3 in series here.
Cheers
Ade

Really cool Ade. I like the diagonals and zig zags, they make a great composition. Awesome sky too. Is this the water that makes Yorkshire Bitter? Den

not quite den - yorkshire people have been bitter since Bosworth Field.... I'm a lancastrian remember. As is Steve actually....
this water flows t'other way actually - it'll end up in Manchester as it's just over the other side of the hills from Huddersfield.
Not a place you'd go for fun or a romantic walk, but you can get a few good shots from there.
got another one to post later when 24 hours has passed since the last one!

Ade, Really like the composition and coloring on this one. Like the angle it was shot at. Scary looking sky as well. What photographic opportunities you all have there. Marilyn
