This nice photo likes an greeting card.
I smile.

For me it's a very nice photo. Yes, it's simple and natural, but the color representation is very sharp and vivid. Very lively! The lighting really helps brings out the colors!!!
One thing, the expression of the shopkeeper is not in-line with the colorful expression of the entire store.....
But I do want to go to this store if I had my chance to go to Venice....

Erik Neldner   {K:10896} 4/7/2005
Nice colors and I do like your human subject off to the left side of the frame a bit. Inviting. Makes me want to have a coffee....whoops, just had one.

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 4/7/2005
may be the title is due to the italian sound of the words recalling you Venice holydays you spent some time ago, otherwise I do not understand it (obviously I know what the words mean but I do not see any connection with what seems to be a traditionally old style Pasticceria in which you can taste some sweets; I notice also a particular orange-red floor very old but nice; finally 8:00 in the evening seems not to be definetly night for italian dinner hours.
PS I use to have quite an english dinner hour at 7.00 pm ;-)

Certainly a charming image--and the fact that it was at night is truly impressive. The framing is just right, I think.

Good work,
--George

Hi Antonio,

if you take a closer look, you will see a sign saying "vietato fumare" ;-)
so this is the connection.

thanks for the interesting comment,

Thilo

i like the "peak" into the shop... just came back from venice so it is nice to see this image... not looking at is technically but more the composition... sometimes the feel or the vibrancy of an image can be just as important as to the technical details.. good work

Maja Gligoric   {K:13402} 4/8/2005
Blurry but nice colorful composition.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Thilo! You made it easy to step into this shop ~ looks inviting, without any threshold. Definitely one for me; I don?t smoke :)

Stephen Bowden   {K:64513} 4/9/2005
Excellent candid Thilo, wow the produce in this shop does look ver appetising lol

Lovely colours and lighting within the shop although the flooring does seem strange for a cafe ?

Best wishes,
Steve

Hi Thilo, sehr einladend..die alte Einrichtung, die Muranolampe, die Theke...da bekommt man wirklich Lust auf einen Espresso:)
LG,Ursula

Omar Rifaat   {K:10135} 4/10/2005
I Like this one very much too. Captures that special traditional shop feeling that is fast disappearing with all the multinational chains...
The way the doors frame the entrance make me just want to walk in, very inviting. The colours are really happy too.
Nice work,
Omar

Thilo,
Wonderful image, lots of different details. I like the "candid" aspect of the image. The colours and the lighting are great. Perfectly "framed", super job -- Cheers, Rafael

Hi Omar,

you're very right with your words... the old shops really deserve our attention in any way.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 4/12/2005
Hi Sony,

thanks a lot for the personal feedback. it's not easy to get all the things working togehter ;-)

I was very lucky that the shop owner didn't see me.

thilo

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 4/19/2005
Very nice framing for a good candid. Lots of nice detail, and good colours too.

Good work, Thilo!

Could only be improved with a bit of interaction. Either viewer-subject, or with another subject (a customer?)

As someone who also loves photographing candids, I know sometimes you can't have it all, but only wish things were there.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 4/19/2005
Hi Angelo,

thx for the indepth comment. part of the candid project is that you cannot always get what u want ;-)

So I was kind of glad to just get this guy NOT looking at me ;-)

thilo
