Yes, shutter lag was one of the reasons I switched from digicam to DSLR... You caught a precious moment, an adorable expression and nice crop with diagonal. Shallow DOF, focussed don her eyes and soft toning, all together makes a perfect child portrait.

thanks Dina! It has a tiny bit of motion blur on it but I found this filter that is supposed to salvage this kind of blur. But then PS CS2 will have something like that, too.

thanks Carsten! Yes with a P&S camera I would have missed it. AF performance was my main reason to get the D2H, but even with that camera I get OOF shots sometimes. Just when I press thr release my kids move and with shooting at f/1.4 or 1.8 even 3 cm are enough to ruine the photo.

thanks Larissa! I had the camera infront of my eye almost all the time that day :)
Today we went to the beach and for the first time in months I decided leave my camera at home. Man that was fun, I completely forgot how much fun you can have without a camera :-) lol
But seriously, I think I did a little too much the last coule of weeks.

thanks Amanda, yes, I try to make my photos look really natural. I think this time it worked pretty well. I don't like it the presence of the photographer reflects in the expression. Althout I have to admit that the excitment of a photo shoot can also make the model look very interesting.

I do all editing and B&W conversion, then at the top I add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer, set it to "colorize" (litte checkbox at the lower right) and use 41 for Hue and 20 for Saturation.
