Laurie, I couldn't help but notice the band on his leg, Zoo?
In my humble opinion zoo's area great place to tweak photographic skills. I detect by your portfolio that you have some interest in nature.
I invite you to head out into the wild. There is nothing like the feeling one gets capturing a creature like this one in his own enviroment, where he/she is in charge.
And the really cool thing about it is, you do not need to climb Mt.Everest or hire a guide to take deep into the Amazon to do it. Just get in your car and head out of town with only a general direction in mind.
You will be amazed at what you will learn about your own surroundings. And you will have documented it on film or one of those flash memory thingies....

I think a zoo or avery is a fabulous place to take pictures -- most close-ups like this not possible otherwise. And it is so COOL to see these and other birds up close. This is a unique pose for a bald eagle -- typically we see them perched on limbs with the sky behind them. Excellent profile here. Could wish for detail in highlights but I like strong light too. Nice detail in the shadows!
