About Subject background: Time for something different... taking an alternative view on Venice by night. The silhouetted ghost tries to escape the armoured lens, but only manages to reach the beginning of darkness... while a clochard settles his remainings and keep desperately thinking about getting a place for the night. Both leading actors of the scene are ghosts in their way. the one searches for the dark, while the other already is in the dark...

PS concept: layer work, handled the grain, the geometry from the lens and finally the BW conversion and toning

Honest feedback highly appreciated

T,
really cool shot. I love the energy of the man walking away from the lighted area in sihouette. He seems to be leaving another "life" behind him. The classic architecture works as an elegant backdrop for the dramatic scene.

Hi Thilo,
very nice capture,
ghosts create some interest,
background works well also, more people or "ghosts" moving at the ground might also be good
cheers

Hi Thilo, you did good on this one; the gradient below matching the tonal range on top of the image, which IMO balances the tonalrange in a rather peculiar way (at least not in a way I would expect it). It somehow creates a rather aged effect, as if parts have been exposed to bright light longer than others, making the tones fade a bit.

The effect is rather strong, making the venue of this shot is less important than the effect and atmophere it radiates, I think. As subject, I would say the rework is the predominant subject here. Is it just me or is there an odd bit on the left side? Looks a bit brighter than the other tones...

Cheers,

Hugo

Thilo,

This one was made for B&W. A great scene from a beautiful city. Venice must be a photographer's paradise. I like this style of photo where the human form is slightly off focus or motion blurred. It adds to the notion (we are all just passing through while this architecture stays on)

Seven comments only! :-/ this is one of the best images I?ve seen today so far! The exposure between the dark and sunlit areas is just right! The blurriness of the moving man against the old ancient building suggesting its solidarity and even tho its old its still going to hold to the test of time
Excellent lines and tones
the man by the door, wish he wasn?t there!!! but then you would have missed the moving man in the front! and the whole idea would have chnaged
Excellent work my friend :)
7/7

A wonderful shot. Its apparent simplicity betrays the degree of technical challenge. Beautifully done!

Best regards,
