Hi Emgy, the dent and the sandpapered look add alot to this shot. Very strong texture, and a good combination of tones (highlights, midtones and shadows. The somewhat damp (oily?) yellow tones in the upperleft corner also create a nice organic division of this frame, countering the gridlines.
Subtle frame, making the image bevel above the page background. Works well, something to remember.
It's been a while, been away for way too long, but luckily with your pace of uploading, I'm glad to see I haven't missed much....:) Hope all is well,

Gino?s verhaal is een beetje lang maar ik zal proberen hem kort te maken.
Afgelopen week postte hij een foto die onmiddellijk gecensureerd werd.. Een aantal andere Italiaanse fotografen kopieerden deze en postten hem vervolgens opnieuw. Telkens weer verdween Gino?s foto. Uiteindelijk bleef er een over, waarom weet ik niet precies. http://www.usefilm.com/image/848966.html
Het lijkt erop dat Gino niet eens is met de gang van zaken op UF, voornamelijk de manier waarop een ?Featured Donor? wordt uitgekozen (dit heeft hij ontdekt via een steekproef) Ook vond hij, zoals vele anderen, dat de laatstste tijd bijzonder veel awards onterecht worden uitgedeeld en vaak aan dezelfde fotografen. Hij heeft zijn mening kenbaar gemaakt bij genoemde en nu beruchte foto. Hij vindt dat iedereen op UF het recht heeft om zijn/haar mening te uiten en dat foto?s niet zomaar gecensureerd mogen worden zonder opgave van reden. Na dit incident heeft en aantal fotografen in de loop van de week UF verlaten. Nu heeft hij ook blijkbaar besloten te vertrekken. Dit vind ik, eerlijk gezegd erg jammer maar, Gino kennend, verbaast me zijn besluit niet. Als je meer wil weten, stuur me je e-mail op.

Dear Emgy, Oh, I just read that Kevin recieved my E-mail of your image. Well, i thought this one was great and Kevin does his own abstracts in a different style of course. I see a ship was mentioned above (so many comments on here) but to me it looked like a black marble sink top in an Italian hotel. So that's the nature of Abstract, everyone see's something different. Hi Emgy, a fascinating abstract well worth the award. Congratulations. I paid your portfolio a visit for the first time, Excellent and creative with a high standard throughout. I think we have similar interests in photography although the approach and outcome differs somewhat (thats what make it so interesting). Absolutely great, really worth to be BIP. Very nice the way the yellow compinated with the black tones.
p.s. dear Emgy, the dove on my photo has no problem, that funny pose is on a castle's wall that the bird already had landed and trying to ballance.
