very nice shot but the gray is better because of contrast between red flower & border make it more lighter
thanks...

I like both, but I`m for color in this case. Very nice composition, my only nitpick is the DOF here: I wonder if a more blurred background would look better (you could try it out with the lens blur tool)

Wonderful Photograph Toni, Great colors, clarity and Composition.

Thanks for sharing?
Peter Daniel

From the 2, this is my favorite. Love the color and richness of the shot this gives which is lost on the B&W. I'm of the mind that unless it's a rose (something everyone knows) or a white flower then it should be color because that's what makes this flower so wonderful to look at. :) BUT, I am NOT a flower expert on any kind of level, just an admirer of great blooms and this one is wonderful. I love the variation of colors it has from the stem to the top. Very exciting with all the details. I really like the background on this - the stucco wall has some nice texture to throw into the mix and lends a nice subtle color too. Then you have the next bloom that we know will come soon adding some anticipation. Great shot Antonia.

Very nice! I love it!

Ellen Smith   {K:14418} 4/24/2005
Well done this is excellent. I didn't know they came in this color it's beautiful.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:29943} 4/24/2005
It is a Passionfruit vine. I am not at all knowledgeable about flowers, Ellen. I'm taking it on my husband's word. Thanks! Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:29943} 4/24/2005
You "see" what I hoped you would like about this, Cheryl. Your detailed comment is very helpful and really means a lot, not because of the compliments, but because I like to know when I have succeeded at all. Thanks! Antonia

Ellen Smith   {K:14418} 4/24/2005
Can you keep a secret? He's right. I googled it and they come in many colors but this is my favorite.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:29943} 4/24/2005
Ellen..."mums" the word. (Pun intended ;) Antonia

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:29943} 4/24/2005
If I could, I'd hand it to you. :) Antonia

Thanks Carsten...I'll give the blur a go. Did you see my first post (15 Passions)? You and David are given credits there. David had mentioned that there was more dynamic range available for editing in 16 bit. It was shot RAW and converted to 16 bit in PS for editing. It seemed like my possibilities were expanded when I did that, and I ended up becoming absorbed in making changes. Now I'm wondering (per your info on the cows), whether I've got this wrong and should have shot in 16bit to begin with.

This is a beautiful capture. Lovely title and exquisite rendering. Fantastic colors. Great mixtures of reds of the flower and the dull green of the foilage. Agged and broken leaves make quite a contrast with the rich vibrant colors of the flower. Delicate subtle yellows of the flower break the monotony and draw the viewer's eye to the center of the flower. The dull defocussed background is enhancing the main subject.

An excellent capture indeed.

Kind regards.

Nice composition Toni. The color mix I like the most. I too shoot everthing Raw format gives alot more wiggle room to adjust the WB. Nice capture.

Tom

Don't know how I missed this when looking at your portfolio earlier. I know nothing about flowers and very seldom shoot them. All I know is that this one really grabbed my attention. Just a joy to look at.

I can't add much more to what has been written below. Lovely color & composition. Have you seen one of the most interesting adaptations to pollination on this flower. Catch one that is just opening. Watch the anthers & ovaries and how they move from vertical upright to horizontal position (@ 20 minutes depending on temperature). In the horizontal position they deposit pollen on the backs of visiting bees which then brush against the now bent over ovarian tissues. What a magnificent plan!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:29943} 7/27/2005
Holy cow Bill! I will have to catch one of those shows....amazing details. A wonder of nature. Antonia

Trish McCoy   {K:20866} 8/9/2005
