heheheheh.... Still can't get enough of the way this camera pulls the most common subjects completely out of the ordinary.... The camera that shoud've been used to make the pictorial of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", if you know what I mean. You just made me place the Holga on my "things I want" list...:) Great stuff... (Lens: Not really).... Excellent work, Thilo!

Cheers,

hugo

LOL at Carlheinz and Ann - This is very Holga, very good - Watch out for bugs and sprinklers! - H

A charming view--well captured and beautifully presented. The Holga is obvious a real eye-opener. ;-) (I'm still trying to get some film. Maybe soon.)

Best wishes,

Hi Hugo,

I know that "Fear and Loathing" feeling well =)
If the Holgas will come out with 20mm, this would be the cherry on the weird look.

As I'm not very confident in my Holga skills at the moment, every single constructive comment is more than welcome. this world is totally new for me, and kind of frustrating ;-)

thx for the encouragement,

thilo

Very interesting.

George Black   {K:101993} 4/25/2005
PS: The manmade elements (what looks like a sprinkler pipe slightly right of center and a rectangle--a sign or label--in the upper left) do distract a bit from the the natural simplicity of the overall image.

All the best,
--george

Hi George,

120 film shouldn't be too difficult to get ;-)

best wishes and thanks for the comment,

thilo

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 4/25/2005
Wasn't just nice, Thilo...:) It's about time to pick up the more eperimental mode again for me, and these shots do trigger me. There was a time, when there were many "holga-shots" on UF, but they seem to have disappeared...

Cheers,

hugo

Great angle and tones, the effects that this camera creates are really interesting!

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 4/26/2005
I see you have Holga fever... :)

Great composition and DOF... Very nice angle also... I like it very much in Black and White...

I would have felt the same... from the angle it looks like you are in the jungle... :) Be careful, you can find dangerous animals there...HEHEHEHHEHE

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Lens: not really..LOL!!!!! ...i think the Holga "lets your hair down" technically,so to speak,Thilo ;> ...apt title as i get impression of being very tiny while exploring the surroundings...tone,perspective and holga blur/vignetting all work well,my friend!..regards,gayle

Andre Denis   {K:55922} 4/26/2005
A wonderful grasshopper's view of the world Thilo. That camera works perfectly in that situation.

Hi George,

I see your point, and you're probably right. problem is: when armed with Holga, I totally forget any rules for photographing ;-)

thilo

Uwe Bachmann   {K:10222} 4/26/2005

Excellent. Holga the dream maker. (I mean you shot it but Holga helped). I will buy me one.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 4/26/2005
hi gayle,

let's your hair down? hmmh... we in Germany say "let's your trouser down" ;-) (if you mean the same).

best wishes,

thilo

arwa abdullah   {K:34425} 4/26/2005
Hi thilo!
The effect of the holga is fascinating! The way you managed to keep that center flower sharp adds balance to the dreamy sensation!
The subject its self seems to be perfect for this type of camera!
lines and curves -the bushes and trees- bending around the edges exhibiting the holga effect !
Theres a pipe right on top of the sharp flower it?s a bit distracting, is there a way t remove it?
I just got a series idea!!! Photographing the same spot with different cameras lenses filters but the same composition and perspective, like this shot here taken with the holga, then the same shot with IR filter, then with a traditional 50mm lens, just a thought, but now after thinking about it for a second it sounds very?umm educational
but that?s not bad is it

Gayle's Eclectic Photos   {K:91033} 4/28/2005
hmmm...it may have a different meaning in German!..LOL.."letting your hair down" in this context means to ignore any rules and to just let yourself go! ;> ..am going to treat myself to one very soon as am so intrigued with the unexpected qualities of the images

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 5/17/2005
The blur gives it swirling movement, like a Van Gogh painting. Very magical. You should compile some toy cam shots and show it at the new place that Kev & I told you about.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 5/18/2005
Hi Mark,

thanks a lot for your advice. I will do so when I've gathered some different shots. Looking for panorama ones and 35mm ;-)

Thilo
