About Maya loves bananas. This one was the third she ate that day. Juts look how funny she reats it. As if it was corn or a piece of melone. :)

MAGIC light. Love this one. I've never seen a kid eat a banana like that before, lol.

Maya is a monkey after my own heart. I will pick banana's hands down over anything. Great back lighting here David, love the halo effect it gives her. Her eyes are great in this - it's like she's daring you to try and take it. :)

OMG! David..this is so adorable!! The lighting is sooo magical, and it's fantastic that she's holding the banana in just the perfect way for the light to hit it and show the little bite marks. (NEVER ever seen this kinda banana eatin!!) This will be another excellent documentation of her colorful childhood..."see Maya...look at how you used to eat banana!!" :)))

Love it!
Jan

Thanks Alison, we were stunned ourself when we first saw it. Maya seems to be creative in many ways :)

I just opened the front door to let the setting sun come in. I helped her sit down in the right spot. ;)

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/1/2005
Thanks Cheryl, fortunately she can't open them herself yet. Otherwise she would empty the whole fruit bowl! It was also impressive how quickly she finished that thing.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/1/2005
thanks Larissa! I really enjoyed your recent Olga series. I like the way you use colors.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/1/2005
thanks a lot Jan! Yes it is definitely one of those photos that will make it into her photo album. I opened the door to let the sun in and started to take photos. Plenty for the trashcan because the light is really extreme. By the time she came back with the banana I had already found the best spot, guided her there and kept on shooting. That is one of my favorites.

Children doing what children do best...being themselves. Thankyou so much David for your comments on my images.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 5/1/2005
Beautiful backlighting. You captured the detail and tones of her expression very well even though the image is quite dark. Excellent candid moment. You are doing such a fantastic job not only with the photography, but in creating a record of her childhood. Inspiring. Antonia

Hanggan Situmorang   {K:37830} 5/2/2005
Beautiful and lovely moment, David. Love her expression, and the backlight, as well. She looks very curious from her eyes. Great portrait, my friend.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/3/2005
thanks Hanggan, that was one of the rare moments where I actually planed the shot and it turned out the way I hoped. Usually I just keep my eye open for the right moment and try to get it.

Adolfo Valente   {K:538} 5/3/2005
Very nice shot! Wonderful expression

Trish McCoy   {K:15897} 5/5/2005
so cute. I like the way she eats her bannanas. this is an adorable. shot. a keeper for sure. hang this on your walls.

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 5/5/2005
Great character shot and exposure is dead on for this tricky situation. Enough detail in her face while maintaining the feel of the strong backlight.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/5/2005
thanks so much Trish! my problem with priting photos is I always want them BIG!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/5/2005
thanks Stefan, I had to do some work on the dynamic range in PS here.

Jennifer Lord-Palmer   {K:2596} 5/20/2005
I ADORE THIS! Her big eyes and the way she's chomped to the end of the bananna. The lighting makes it look like early morning. Very sweet capture! My nine month old adores banannas too!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/20/2005
Thanks very much Jennifer. I like this photo very much myself! :)
