About To achieve a super wide effect, I stacked four landscape images vertically (1/160 sec f: 5.6 @17 mm, ISO 100). Stitched with Canons PhotoStitch, the pano was postprocessed with PS for the sky(gradient mask with 60% multiply blended layer) and for the water (paint brush mask for parts of the water with about 30% vivid light blended layer). Then some color adjustment for water and sky, at last sharpening. A lot of postprocessing, but the original image was dull because of overcast sky.

Magic sky you got here .. i think this sky makes the success of your shot here .. very good contrasts, the heavy colours look very threatening .. Peter

very beautiful Casten, one of my favorites from you. It is much simpler but feel so harmonic and calm. Really very nice work both the compositiona and the post work.

Molto bella,suggestiva.

Barry Wakelin   {K:7838} 4/30/2005
Very moody. A lot of work but it's paid off. The image engenders a strong emotional response. The only thing I might change would be the posts. They look like an ND grad filter was superimposed on them and I think the they'd possibly look better if they appeared quite bright to bring them more into the foreground. It might not work but would be interesting to see.

ventrix drogo   {K:60051} 4/30/2005

Your end result is wonderful. It is a great picture.

Really nice. Only for my taste I would have preferrede the sky a little bit more light.
For the rest is perfect as usual.

Hey,,congrats on the BIP! I'd be given' em to you right and left and, of course, this is well-deserved on this one too. The green in the water in the foreground is beautiful. Lots of drama and the light over he water such a wonderful reflection of the drama in the clouds. Masterful editing, as usual. Antonia

Andrew Houser   {K:31} 5/2/2005
It would have been a gorgeous shot without it, but that post adds a fantastic focal point for this shot.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 5/7/2005
hi carsten,

I would have hated me if I missed this one.

awesome wide angle effect, very good split between water and sky. that poles give the viewer a good focus point to achieve an even more depth effect. I really like the colors and the treatment for the sky. great multi-layered landscape. mild thing: have you thought about a fill in flash for the poles?

anyway, very good pano stitching. The BIP is well deserved.

best wishes,

Thilo

I honestly can't pick a best picture of yours, they are all so inspirational that envy and pride scream through. You are an exceptionally talented photographer and I'm glad I've seen what I have today. The first comment was just one image, then I looked at your gallery and I was literally blown away. I look forward to seeing what you have coming in the future.

Carsten Ranke   {K:14453} 7/30/2005
John, thanks for your nice comment ! Blush...
Actually, my photo activities are a bit slowed down now, since my 300D has a defect main dial wheel (that means, no manual mode and other problems). I dont want to send the camera in for repair now, since exactly now my vacation begins :-(

Cheers

Carsten
