About The sky this night reminded me of the Yin Yang symbol.
The Chinese Symbol represents an understanding of how things work. The black and white shapes represent the interaction of two energies (Yin & Yang)which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white. They cannot exist without each other. The shape portrays the sense of continual movement of these two energies.

I love your interpretation in the about. It is a beautiful photo but looking at it in that light gives added intensity to the contrasts of color. I do like this one very much. Del

Alison DuFlon   {K:36165} 5/1/2005
Wonderful image filled with alot of drama in those dark clouds. I agree with yin yang look to the clouds. Alison

Deb Mayes   {K:19605} 5/1/2005
Beautiful sky, Mary - it really does resemble a yin yang symbol. Somehow that seems entirely appropriate with the light/shadow, light cloud/dark cloud. Well seen and captured!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30030} 5/1/2005
That is really true, Mary! Is this also what is known as a weather "front?" It is a great capture. This is the kind of sky angels like to appear in. Antonia

Jan Graziano   {K:17041} 5/2/2005

Quix Photography   {K:20204} 5/3/2005
Amazing cloud formation Mary... brilliant capture!! Love the write up & comparison to Yin Yang... can see the resemblance.

Interestingly I can see a face in my 'The Sun' photo... no one else as yet has picked up on this, and I have not altered the clouds to create the effect... was talking to my Uncle the other night & pointed it out to him... it reminds him of a little windblowing face they used to use on weather forcasts over here... spooky... maybe mother nature is trying to tell us something?

Thanks for all your comments... greatly appreciated.

wonderful sky, Mary-- perfect commentary on it, it does, indeed, resemble the yin/yang symbol-- the interweaving of all things in life.

simply gorgeous. stunning. cong.

Luther Chong   {K:3585} 5/12/2005
Excellent capture, caption and "about"..

It's somewhat dramatic and can be linked to emotion and mood. The contrast and lack of saturated colors adds to the setting.. The time of day is a question.. I would guess, late afternoon.

The same photo is sepia would be stunning..

Aloha ... Luther

James Hager   {K:6285} 5/15/2005

Rachel Leah   {K:24704} 8/7/2007
Okay, so back about 2 years to get to this photo... but when I saw it I really loved it! Was it naturally like that, or modified? It looks like the dark clouds are just ROLLING in like waves in the ocean! So awesome, this is so cool! Excellent work, good eye :)
~Rachel~

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 8/8/2007
Hi Rachel. This is a natural image. This is just as I saw it. I just thought it was quite interesting. I'm glad you like it.
