Lawrence, not sure if this helps but I found this site that might be able to help if you contact them with a photo of the mystery camera http://www.historiccamera.com/ - let me know what you find out. Must be fun to see what comes out. I love old cameras.

I really like this photograph, as it reminds me of the old masters' works in the early days of photography. Like the others, I'm curious as to what make of camera this is. Maybe it would help if you attached a small photo of this mystery camera.
