About I took the 'new' baby (I mean the camera, not the toddler) out for a walk with some friends and this series is the result...

The 1939 Carl Zeiss lens is pretty much the same as later models, except it is uncoated. I think this is what creates the slight 'ghosting' effect where bright light meets a shadowy area. On the other hand the overall image is super focussed as the resolving power of this lens on 6x6 is awesome. The overall effect is really 'retro' which I think is great!!

This is certainly a wonderful example. The image quality is really great for this image, for certain. Ramble on . . .

Best regards,

Thanks, George!
It takes a little time to work out the quirks of this camera but I'm enjoying every minute of it!!

It is great, Omar. The thin slice of focus and the background's slight blur is gorgeous. Beautiful shot! - Hansi

Hi Omar,

pretty cool stuff. I know that blown-out effect very well ;-)

great level of sharpness, and nice usage of the middle format. maybe the head of the child shouldn't be that centered, but this can also be judged as a means of art =)

best wishes,

thilo

Hi Thilo,
Thanks for your comment! Actually it was hard even to get the child in the frame at all as he kept running all over the place! I was running backwards in front of him!

Thanks Bea! I am proud of myself, especially since this was my first roll and first time I use a manual light meter! I hope its not just beginners luck! But also very happy I listened to your advice!
Omar
