About Subject background: Holga time again, full flavored color stuff. No, I don't want to transfer the image into BW nor do I want to clone out that knot =) This is on top of the hill of Schoeppingen which is actually no hill at all.

PS concept: mild work on levels.

Honest feedback highly appreciated

Wonderful, Thilo. Great how the tree subject, with shadow and branches, frames the wind mill subject. And so nice pale blue in the sky. Viva Holga! - Hansi

Hi Hansi,

well, I should print that last slogan on a T-Shirt ;-)

thanks for the fine words, Thilo

I have not understood yet the fascination this camera has on a lot of photographer including you Thilo; may I read your idea or some link for reading about it?
thanks

Antonio, here is a link that perhaps will help -

Hi Antonio,

The Holga was a gift to me, so the idea was to use this piece of plastic ;-)

For me, the Holga is the perfect counterpart for my digital D70 world with lens exchanges, various options for exposure and heavy Photoshopping. Holga is simple in use (let's say: You definitely have to know what you do as you don't have much options for exposure) and let's me capture subjects I wouldn't capture at all. To view the world through a Holga is definitely something special. I would say that there are subjects that definitely ARE Holga ones (or for any other toy cam which I don't know up to now). And most important: you create pictures that already have weird colors, blurs and vignetting: no need to Photoshop at all ;-)

I forgot that every Holga is different. No Holga is the same, they all have different "faults".

For Holga, you may check this site

http://www.holga.net/default.php?language=it

hope that helps.

best wishes, thilo

I don't think this scene benefits that much from the Holga approach. I guess it doesn't play to its strengths, IMHO.

That aside, I like how you've used the shadow in the foreground as detail to lead the eye into the picture. Nice clouds, too.

What a mood and atmosphere! Great Holga shot!!!!!

Very cool holga shot! i like the shadows and also the branch sticking out of the heavens.. All this adds to the already slightly surreal windmills...
After I finish playing with my Rollei I'm gonna get one of these!

PS:Blaue Nacht? ich nicht...leider ;(

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 5/8/2005
You're right, leave it the way it is. This photograph has everything from the clouds to the shadow of the tree.

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 5/9/2005
Hi Thilo...

Love the the shadow of the tree in the foreground and the clouds... The composition is excellent... The only thing is that I feel like a soft focus here in the windmills, and I would have rather expected all the image in focus... Maybe its just me... :(

Greeting from Mexico,

MaLuisa

Hi Thilo, so it's holga time again eh? Well i know you have received some critique for this type of photo previously... i just wanted to say that i enjoy them. Looking at the world through your eyes and that of the holga, it's interesting. Best wishes neil

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 5/9/2005

Thilo

Once again Thilo, Great sky and use of the shadows from the tree. These windmills are popping up all over the place.
