About Subject background: On top of the Walberla, the hill of the Franconians, you will find that small chapel. For me, this looks like a refuge.

PS concept: Scanned the BW neg as a color neg. this color came out as a result.

Honest feedback highly appreciated

Special thanx to Chrissie

I really am enjoying this series. The color is just right for this--a slightly acidic sepia, I guess. The dark corner vignetting also adds to the intriguing effect. But it it the amazing tilt that really makes this image pop. Some day soon, I'm going to unlimber my own (new) Holga! Good stuff . . .

Best regards,
--George

Omar Rifaat   {K:10135} 5/10/2005
Great! Looks like a refuge at the end of the world--earthquakes destroying everything but everybody safe inside! Cows are pretty relaxed about it though!
I love how you 'dramatised' an otherwise serene and sedate scene!
Omar

To see this make me remember a nightmare i had many years ago... (sorry;)) and in that dream everything where tilting like this....like i was falling all the time. This does not mean i don?t like it or the tilting....! A special unreal feeling here and cool Holga work!

Hi Ursula,

LG,

Thilo

Hey Ann,

thanks for the honor!

Hi Pat,

thx for the feedback. This is why I bought the Epson 3170 which is not very expensive. This thing eats a lot of formats (24x36, 6x6 etc) so I can handle the rather slow scan process.

best wishes, thilo

Ursula Luschnig   {K:21809} 5/10/2005
LG,Ursula

Thilo,
You are really on an angle kick lately :)
I remember seeing some small roadside chapels similar to this one on the Canadian prairies, on the way to the Rocky Mts.

looks as though the church is falling! great angle....

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 5/11/2005
The tilt and the surroundings look sinister, but that church is like a light in that little world. Interesting color tone. I've set the scan like you did, and got some pretty unusual colors as a result.

Maria Luisa Vial   {K:36017} 5/11/2005
WOW!!!! Love this one Thilo... The angle is really great and excellent composition...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

the toning gives it a very old look and feel.. I like the angle, makes the composition more unique...good work

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 5/11/2005
Hi Mark,

to be honest this happened by chance. Just forgot to switch to BW neg ;-)

the toning depends for sure on the white balance setting.

thx for the feedback,

thilo

Oh ... I feel drunk :) If that?s your intention, then ~ good work, LOL! Cute chapel!

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 5/11/2005
Hi Thilo,

I like this series. Nice look on this one. Interesting to shoot with such a big tilt. Gives me a dizzy feeling. Kind of like I am drunk and falling over.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 5/11/2005
Hi Elisa,

have a drink or two for me ;-)

Thilo

arwa abdullah   {K:34425} 5/11/2005
Hi thilo!
I love the colors here! the extreme tilt of the horizon and the church matches the whole idea of the toy camera!
Im a sucker for darker edges so I would disagree with anyone who would suggest editing them or cloning them out!
Great work my friend 7/7
:)
