great stuff, I think you've nailed this shot. The water effect is amplified by the razor-clarity of the stones. To nitpick, ideally I'd have preferred a tree with dark rather than light leaves on the right hanging over the stream, but you can't really go around replacing trees.

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaah!

It's born!!!
The first shot on UF with LF!!!!!
And what a picture!!!!!
Great tones, great subject, great great great!

....breaking the back of the task...
now we want more and more :)

I would give you more but the limit is 7!

How did you printed it?

so I can not hide my excitement GG! oh these negatives are soooo beautiful. the tones ---> AMAZING!! this is just scan from straight contact print. printed on Kodak multi-contrast RC IV paper. I am not big blurry stream man but I think about making larger print of this one :))

thank you GG!!

Superb! I know how difficult it was for me to get a similar shot with my MF Mamiya. I can only imagine the difficulty with the LF gear! Very well done. You earned this one, buddy!!

really appreciate the visit and the words Chris. man, I could barely see the ground glass for this one :) honestly I'm just happy to know I can actually focus this camera *LOL* I think this light tree on the right serves an important purpose though (one of the reasons I chose to use a #8 filter) -- for me I wanted the lighter tones to draw the eye back into the composition -- didn't want to just rely on the stream doing that. also wanted the lighter tones to help create a delicate fotograph to match the slow shutter speed. one other subtle point. it had been raining all night so the bark of every tree was rich and dark. I figured I could "frame" the stream with the dark branches if I could sufficiently lighten the foliage around it.

thanks again Chris!

Seven for technical accomplishment in large format prints. Enough said.

Bryan Miller   {K:3395} 7/27/2005
thank you very much Michael! this was literally my first negative for the LF camera... honestly I have never enjoyed something so much -- the time spent setting the camera up is fantastic! maybe I can talk you into using film for your next adventure :)
