this one should definately be staged in front of someone's front yard, for all to admire;) nice composition, otherwise.

This one keeps coming up in the "images needing comments" section. I couldn't figure out why, as in the thumbnail it looks nice.

However, at a bigger size, it is apparent that something is not right. I can't quite put my finger on what went wrong, but maybe it is a combination of focus (soft on the wood?), exposure (on the dark side) and maybe some Photoshop work to try and remedy the situation that didn't quite work.

Hi Angelo,

Thanks for your comment. There are probably a few things wrong with this shot, the main thing being the way it was scanned. At the moment, my scanner won't scan my negatives, just my prints, and its' not a very good scanner, so I lose a lot of quality when I post on Usefilm. The focus is good in the print, and I liked this shot because, in the print at least, the reflective sand in the shadows is almost like a night sky, and the driftwood has almost a cloudlike quality that is interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't come across well scanned to digital. Also, I'm not too good with Photoshop yet, and am still learing how to correct these problems. As always, any advice or criticism is very much appreciated. Thanks again.
-Paul.
