About ... everything was red and white under a blue sky. Montréal, Québec, Canada, Spring 2005.

A small gas station near home.

This picture was taken with a Certo-phot camera. It was built in East Germany about 40 years ago. The shutter speed is fixed and there's only 2 aperture to choose from (f/8 and f/11). It operates like an Holga camera. It is however a sturdier camera with its metal body. The positive was scanned with an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner.

Thanks for your comments. Regards, Claude

Beautiful color --- is there a website where I can look up the Certo-Phot? I'd like to see what it looks like and how it operates.. K

Hello Kevin, I have done some research and there is hardly anything very precise about it. I think I'll write something about it. For the moment, here's a picture.

Nice - the photos on the web look pretty sharp - what about printed versions?

Claude H.   {K:1560} 5/20/2005
They're pretty sharp at the center. It gets softer toward the corners. Have a nice week-end!

Hi Claude;

I like the camera's lens and its effects.I've been looking for one, but they're not easy to find. I also like your photograph of Quebec in red, blue and white.

Lovely with the smooth blurry borders and dark corners. The colours by Fuji Velvia are striking - as they normally are! Personally i haven?t tried the 100F yet, just the original 50 ISO! Thanks for remembering me about that wonderful film. Excellent work!

Jeanette

Hello Mark. They are quite rare but, on the bright side, the prices are usually very low. Thanks for the comment. Regards, Claude

Hello Jeanette. I also like the 50 ISO version but with the 100 ISO is better with my Certo-phot as I can use a smaller aperture. Thanks for your comment. Regards, Claude
