After having seen horizontal first I can't help feeling I'm missing something on this shot. I wonder how I'd have felt is I saw them in revesed order. The DOF effect is stronger on this shot.

Interesting that the vertical view should have the clouds standing out so much clearer against the blue sky. I like the rhythm of the different bands of colour running up the long dimension of the shot, so I prefer this orientation of the two you've uploaded.
