David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks a lot Kelly, I'm glad you like it.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks Dina, I thought the center compositon and square format are the least distracting thing to put the attention on her.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thank you Zannoni!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks a lot Hanggan, she was far away from me (300 mm lens) and really by herself. It was really a moment when she just enjoyed finding that little shell all by herself.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks a lot Pat, yep i'm glad I was able to capture it so clearly and make her speak for herself

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks Larissa!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks Cheryl, yes its pure joy. She was all by herself and totally focused on looking around in the sand. It was fun to watch her from a long distance and my presence didn't affect her at all. You know what I mean, often kids behave so different when they think they are unwatched.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks Carsten! When I saw this photo is just asked for a square crop. Actually since I got my medium format camera I like the square more and more.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks Gustavo!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 5/31/2005
thanks very much Claude, your input means a lot to me

Hanggan Situmorang   {K:37830} 6/1/2005
That is so true, David. By using a tele lens and giving some 'room of privacy' for your kid, we will get the opportunity of capturing his honest reaction..:)
Congratulations, my friend.

Trish McCoy   {K:15897} 6/1/2005
I love that head wrap she has on. she's a doll.

parvin dabas   {K:2652} 6/2/2005

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 6/2/2005
Nice and soft despite the seemingly harsh light. I can read that body language: happy!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/3/2005
thanks Stefan! she was really happy and content on this day.

Galal El Missary   {K:84485} 6/3/2005

What a beautiful natural shot, David. A moment of sheer joy captured forever. I love it. Black and white is great for capturing the emotions of life. Cheers, Ann.

Francisco Albiol   {K:486} 6/5/2005
I love pictures of your portfolio, they are great.
This one is very nice, the chlid expression and the DOP you get wit the nikkor 300mm make this one a very especial shot.

I love this shot, David! Fantastic capture and crop..and way to handle that sunlight! Great!

Louise Vessey   {K:13859} 6/17/2005
Well done to retain detail in shadows and highlights on such a bright day at the beach. Curious if you used fill flash or had to tweak much in PS after the fact?

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/18/2005
thanks Louise, I didn't use a fill flash (don't even have a flash :) )
There was a soft layer of thin clouds so the sunlight was not too harsh and the bright sand reflected some light. I didn't do any contrast salvaging in PS here. Just the B&W conversion.

cessy karina   {K:14205} 6/19/2005
