About Subject background: I'm going back to wide angle architecture for a moment... combined with some of the new techniques I found out. Hope you like the outcome. You see the Westerkerk.

PS concept: Scanned the image, then did some tweaks on noise. color comes from the channel mixer.

Beautiful sky, Thilo.

Nice tonal range on the brickwork.

Personally, I'd like to see a bit more tonal separation between the building and the sky. Maybe waiting for a cloud to be over the right-hand-side?

Once again: the sky and building are superb, just think they get lost in each other near the top right hand side...

Hi Angelo,

you have a good eye. unfortunately, I was only allowed a minimum time at the tower to make pictures. So I may have cloned some clouds from other pictures to fill in the sky... but normally, I'm not the PS cloner ;-)

thx for the observation,

Thilo

Hi Thilo,

I have to agree with Angelo here. A little more cloud on the right combined with a little less cloud on the left might have turned a good picture into a great picture.

Looks like a photo that I would take.. not sure if that is a compliment or not LOL .... excellent perspective.. the strong ps work definitely adds to the mood of the image.. strong tones and colors.. good work

Todd Miller   {K:16461} 6/2/2005
strange, brooding vibe going on here. i like.
i also like the fact that that right side of the building is kind of lost into the sky...the left side is perfectly obvious, and that is enough. as it is, the eye falls down a line from the top cloud to the right through the building. very appealing shot!

Thilo,
Hey there brother. Long time no chat. Nice image. Really cool process on that sky. Love the splash of color on the building too.
cheers,
Erik

as the dark shadows are managed in light terms is a masterful issue here

Hi Thilo! I do like your new technique - you are very inventive ... impressive work! One tiny thing that grabs my attention is the thin bluish line on the top/right side (edge) of the roof; it looks pretty mysterious. Excellent angle ...

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 6/3/2005
Hi Elisa,

I have no idea where this line comes from... my layer work is very exact - in fact, I'm very exact in my whole life ;-) (call me pedantic).

blue mystery? =)

thx for the feedback,

Thilo

Omar Rifaat   {K:10135} 6/4/2005

Hi Omar,

the reference to LOTR is great, thanks for the idea!
