City - about 470km from Dawson city State - YUKON TERRITORIES Country - Canada
About
This one is not here for critique reasons. Just sharing a personal achievement. There is a lonely, wind blasted, sign-post atop a hill on a wide arctic plain at kilometer 405 of the Dempster highway in the Yukon Territories of Canada. It marks the only place in all of Canada where a road crosses the Arctic circle. To get there you drive through several hundred kilometers of some of the wildest landscape in all of north america. Through gravel, shale, and mud.
Well no, actually I don't think a helicopter could have made it if it started from where I live. Round trip for this little thing (picture was taken 2/3 of the way) was some 19,000 km or 11,800 miles. :-)
Besides I wouldn't have missed driving up through the incredible scenery of the Dempster highway for anything.
