About I shot this yesterday at the community pond. When I converted it the black and white it felt kind of stark and barren so I thought I'd go with it and add some grain for effect.

I'd like to see the color!!I like the simplicity of this. Your frame is a nice touch here too.

Laurie! This is great!!!
if the location is near by go there with a tripod and use real slow shutter speed it would be magnificent, not that I don?t like it now, I do a lot but I?ve been looking around for something similar to this and didn?t succeed! So maybe you can photograph it instead of me :?>
horizontal lay out rule of thirds real slow shutter speed ;)

Very nice, especially with grain!

Cool :-)
Sooo similar to one of my previous posts!

Good job, the grain fits perfectly with the mood.

Great idea arwa! This pond is actually right up the street from my house so I think I'll break out the tripod and head down tonight close to sunset. Temps are in the mid 90s here now (and with humidity it feels like 100) so I have to wait for it to cool down! I hate Florida in the summer!!!

Jean-Marc Desjarlais   {K:2061} 6/14/2005
Laurie - well captured / edited. I can't quite put my finger on why I like this so much - most likely the geometry of the reflections in the water. I too would like to see the color version.

P.S. - if you don't like Florida in the summer, you more than likely would hate Ottawa, Canada in the winter! )

go after sunset at dusk when its darker cooler and you could really go SLOW with the shutter! Wish I was there with you!

Hi Laurie,

I like what you've done here! The photograph has a feel to of another time when things were simpler and life slower. Like when you were a kid on summer holidays and just relaxing need a pond. Very nice ... thanks!

The grain adds great atmosphere - I think it looks quite scary and sinister (in a good way of course!).

A very Zen feel. Nice capture. -- Naomi

Thanks CorrieLynn! I just posted to color version. I'd love to know what you think. :)

Thanks Jean-Marc! You're probably right, Ottowa would be way too cold for me in the winter. If only I could find a place that had a year round temp of about 72 degrees!

BTW I just posted the color version of this and I would love to know which one you prefer. :)

Roberto Okamura   {K:22842} 6/14/2005
Excellent work Laurie!!
I prefer the color version! But it is very good too! :)
Best regards!
Roberto.

I like this one too Laurie and I know what you mean about the heat, it's that way here too, everyday in the 90's, have to wait until it cools down to take pictures. This one is so simple, appropriately titled and I like the shadow that each is casting as well....very well done....:):)Linda
