great perspective... spent time with bubbles today too :-) They are like magic for kids...

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/20/2005
yes we buy the biggest bottles available. I blew intill I felt dizzy, then my wife had to take over. I grabbed my camera, layed down on the grass and shot as much as I could get :)

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/20/2005
thanks Kelly! Just send the rain this way, we won't see any of that for months now :-/ The sunny wheather is nice, but if you see a blue sky every day it kind of gets boring :)

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/20/2005
thanks Gustavo!

Excellent composition and a great perspective. Wonderful shot. Love the softness of the bubbles.

Margaret Sturgess   {K:49403} 6/20/2005
David It's is great all those bubbles floating up - even in a curving diagonal line :) they really sparkle against the sky. I had a bit of go at brightening the blower [your wife I believe from the comments below] see if you like.

Splendid shot David! Just wonderful - maybe we need a "bubbles" project as it seems we are all infected. :) It's just wonderful with the glow on the wand.

Bryan Jarmain   {K:11941} 6/20/2005
A nice idea - this shot. I like the perspective, the blues, and the contrasts. Very unique and different.

Zannoni Matteo   {K:12211} 6/20/2005

Pace e salute, M.

beautiful!

Carsten Ranke   {K:14461} 6/21/2005
Very interesting the different perspective, nice the deep blue sky as background for the bubbles. To dodge or not, thats the question. I know it would be easy for you, and you did not adjust the shadows intentionally. Maybe a compromise of both versions would do it the best, not sure.

Regards

Carsten

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/21/2005
thanks Carsten! Yes the face/arm is very dark, but it looked correct to me as wanted to get the focus away from her. It was all about the bubbles. Sure I could just crop her out altogether, but that would be a rather boring photo without any perspective.

I realize a dark face is usually not an attractive element in a photo, but then she still has edge light, so I guess its ok. Maybe a silhouette would work, I'm not sure.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/21/2005
Hi Margaret, thanks for the idea. I see that the dark face is not ideal, but for some reason it didn't feel right to me (the actual expusure is much brighter). I actually tend to make her completely a sillhouette rahter than give her more light.
Maybe I was not paying enough attention to it as I saw and wanted to the focus to be the bubbles. :)

Larissa Nazarova   {K:12112} 6/22/2005
Great idea, David! well done.

Very cool shot! I think I would darken her face, completely...but I'm not sure it would do anything to improve your already cool pic!

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/22/2005
thanks Jan, making her completely dark was actually my favorite alternative. its interesting that you mention it. I'll try that ...

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 6/22/2005
I should have made her completely dark :-) lol

this is a really cool shot, David!

Trish McCoy   {K:15897} 6/23/2005
a fun shot. wow you got a lot of bubbles going on there. nice shot.

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 6/25/2005
I loved the darkness David - I think the focus on the bubbles was perfect and by making the face brighter would take that away. Keep it dark or darker as this shot is magical (and I think it's PERFECT). :)

Louise Vessey   {K:13859} 6/25/2005
Very cool!
