mmm, you've made excellent use of the artistic line, and the converging triangle form of the sails is beautiful. that combined with the detail in the clouds makes for a great image, I like it a lot.

great job,

-Kevin

Oh that boat in would not like be sailing, it looks so dramatic, the weather gonna be hard... Make me think of "The knife in the water" (translated from swedish, don?t know if that are the correct title in english). Excellent!

Hi Ameed,

well, yes ;-) This rocks even in the thumb, and when getting to the real picture, it'S even more impressive. you did a great work in the contrast area and the softness around the image makes the ship kind of ghostbusters-style. Surreal for sure.

congrats, my friend.

best wishes, Thilo

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42188} 6/23/2005
Thanks Thilo for your kind comment, I am really happy with your words, specially it comes from a photographer that I have all the respect to his work, thanks my friend,

John Loreaux   {K:85782} 6/27/2005
Wow!!! This is great Ameed!!! The tones and contrast are really impressive!!!! The only critique I would give would be to leave a bit more space in the front (bow) of the boat. But with that beautioful moon in the photo it really balances the image quite well!!!The dof is teriffic!!!I love how the foreground water is blurred and looks like You were in the water to take the photo!!!Wow this is good!!!Congrats Ameed! My best....................John

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42188} 6/27/2005
Thanks Steve for all your kind comments and encouraging, it is always good to receive from you, kind regards,

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42188} 6/27/2005
Hi John,
You are right, I was in the water on a boat to take this picture, the boat was really far and the boat was shaking from the waves, It was really hard to keep a stable hand :)
Thanks for your kind comment,
Regards,

Saqib Zulfiqar   {K:2770} 6/27/2005
Brilliant!! Love it.

Angelo Villaschi   {K:49617} 6/28/2005
Yes, I like it, Ameed. Nice work. I like your vision and what you intended for this image.

Good framing and composition for the boat. You left quite a bit of foreground water in, but it's not excessive. I like the tones on the water and boat.

The tones on the background water and trees seem a bit out of place, as they are a bit higher, with lower contrast in those areas.

I haven't got a big problem with the cloud rendering, although it makes it look like the boat is sailing through the smoke from some fire :)

To really nit-pick, I'd say you need to be a bit more careful with selections: the gap between the mast and the front sail needs to be erased so that the cloud shows through.

Ameed El-Ghoul   {K:42188} 6/28/2005
Angelo,
Thanks a million for this wonderful Critique, It is the best I got so far. You really made me realize how sharp your eye sensitivity for details, you are the man :)

In regard to the trees in the background, I couldn't get any more details as it was really far with some fog.

In regard to the gap between the mast and the front sail, I didn't even notice that till you mentioned it, and you know what buddy .. My hat up, I didn't even notice that, usually I take care of most of the details, but I didn't notice that, thanks allot for this nit-picking, I believe small details makes perfection,
You know what .. I think we should make it again to the front page as Critique of the Day :) this time you commenting on my picture :) lol this would be a blast :)

Thanks again buddy for your positive criticism, Today I've learned something new,
Regards,
