About Caspian tern being a little overaggressive in defending a nesting colony.
This tern was in a very bad mood today... normally they just dive bomb me once or twice, but this one was having a run at everything in sight...

Thanks Gregory.... it was quite exciting for awhile... ;-)

Thanks Darlene. Do you have them your way? Caspians are fairly rare here, and I've been sending my stuff to the biologist monitoring the breeding colony. (BTW, he got nailed by one in the past).

This one was way more aggressive than any I've previously encountered over the past three months. It was attacking everything in sight, including a pair of swans. I'm speculating that something might have taken it's chick.

Bob, Yes we do have these guys and I have photographed them in the Gulf of Mexico. And yes, they do dive at you when you're near their nesting ground.....we found out almost immediately! Darlene
