About Shot of a male model at a de-commissioned train yard on a rainy day. Used a high speed colour film, scanned, desaturated, and toned. A black reflector to the lower left out of shot. The shutter speed may be a little out - my notes got wet!
I was trying for an aged look to suit the surroundings, so criticism is very welcome.

Warren,

I think your toning work is very good and imparts the aged look very well. No faults on that side.

What I do find conflicting with the "aged look" is the model's clothing and pose, which seem very modern.

The lighting's very nice around his face, but there is a hotspot on his arm which, whilst noticeable, is not that distracting.

Angelo;

Thanks for the comment. There was a bit of a conflict between the look of the shot and the clothing, but that was intentional. I should have pointed that out.

You make a valid point about the hot spot on the arm, and I find myself agreeing with you. However, I felt that it wasn't quite strong enough to detract from the shot as a whole. I try hard not to airbrush or otherwise alter my shots from how they're taken if I can help it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Very nice portrait and beautiful lighting...

I think the photo has a nice gritty look to it. A sort of "Bottom of the Ladder" class type. The model should have had a chain over his shoulder and knuckle dusters. Cheers, Ann.

Great shot! I love the tone and how all the lines in the shot lead your eye to his face. Thanks for the encouraging comment as well!

Excellent portrait, though I'd probably crop below waist level.

Looks like a great location too.

I like this portrait and I especialy like the full disclosure of your technique on each shot. Warren you've been a source of great education to me and I have experimented extensively with things you've said you've done in your pictures.
Thank you my friend.

Salvatore;

Gee, I don't know what to say. Me, a great source of education? I just enjoy my photography. I could make a similiar comment in relation to your macro work, which I find inspirational.

I don't know about full disclosure, but I think explaining a few of the details pertaining to a shot can help people not only critique the shot (and give you ways to improve it) but also it might assist someone in achieving a similiar standard in their own work, We're all here to help one another out, I think.

My thanks for the too kind words, Salvatore. You do me too much honour.
