About Here we see some of the construction work at ground level with the buildings soaring above. Ground level often gets left until last, with people using mid-air bridges to get from one air-cnditioned concrete cave to another, and monorails for the longer distances.

good architextural study Roger, interesting in itself: the wealth of detail; photographically pleasing as well: the lines sweeping the eye across the "canvas".

Just dropped in again, Roger, to see what people have been up to. This series looks to me like either a 1960's version of the bright, science-fiction future of man or a nightmare depicting his fate in a world in which he's lost control. The lack of people makes it much more spooky.

Like you, I have sort of regressed back to film and manual cameras. I may even sell my D1x.

Nice to hear from you Richard. Hope your stock photo site is doing well these days. It is quite hard to get Tokyo shots without hordes of people, but I chose early on a holiday morning for four out of the five shots in this mini-series. I'm thinking of getting some 6 x 6 SLR equipment, and seeing what I can produce with that. Easier to get really excellent scans, for one thing.

I cannot believe what I see, atwhich time did you get up to shoot these photos ?? Perfect !!

Bertram, the business districts of Tokyo are almost completely uninhabited outside of business hours. This was about 9:00am on a National Holiday but of course as I live way out in the suburbs I had to get up a lot earlier than that...
