thanks Amanda! I'm a big fan of that look (face in focus everything else soft) I just used the lens wide open (f/1.4) which makes the DOF very shallow. I think the way she is leaning forward and the focus on her face makes everything else really blurry. Some movement might have added some motion blur.
Its that sharp/soft contrast in photos that I like a lot and the 50 mm fully open lens is just perfect for that.

What a beautiful little girl David. Great capture too! I love the colors, so soft. It suits her look, sweet and innocent, but is she really? Sweet and innocent that is. I have two girls, they look sweet and innocent, but boy can looks be decieving
